Local care: This type of injury is best handled with care of the wound itself by cleaning it,applying bacitracin, bandaging the area for protection. For throbbing discomfort Tylenol (acetaminophen) is preferred as it doesn't accentuate bleeding. See a physician for swelling, spreading redness,or increasing pain. Are you up to date with a tetanus shot?
