All bleeding stops: but how and when is the issue Cuts respond to pressure , cold application and gentle elevation Confounding factors are the depth and direction and quality of the cut. For example a thick gouge vs a paper thin cut. medications. Ex NSAIDs or blood thinners changes how blood clots. If pressure. Cold and gentle elevation don't work then one has to get seen by a medical provider.

If: If you can not stop bleeding with manual pressure and if laceration is deep - than medical care is indicated. You may need tetanus shot, wound cleaning and possibly sutures.
