UTI: Macrobid will treat only a bladder infection (also know as cystitis) if the cause is due to a germ that is sensitive to macrobid

Maybe.: If the bacteria causing the infection is killed by Macrobid, it will help. But if you have a "kidney infection" and have not seen a doctor, please get checked and get on supervised treatment to prevent serious damage and sepsis. If you are on Macrobid for a uti and develop pain in the mid back, fever over 100, or vomiting, then you need to get seen today. IV antibiotics may be needed.
