Bladder, not kidney: If E Coli, or any other bacteria causing urinary infection, are sensitive to Macrobid, it will kill and eliminate them if taken properly. Sensitivity is determined through a two day culture and sensitivity test in the lab. Macrobid concentrates in the urine, but does not achieve significant tissue levels. It therefore works well for bladder infections(UTI), but not kidney tissue infections.
