Live cell analysis?: People seldom look at blood via microscope today, as tests are mostly automated, but looking can help determine white blood count, percentage of diff. types of white blood cells and size/shape of red cells. You may be thinking of Live Cell Analysis, a form of darkfield microscopy some alternative practitioners claim can help diagnose many conditions. It's not yet widely accepted but interesting.
