Depends on site: Cancer of voice box (larynx) divided into two parts. Extrinsic and intrinsic. With the latter only the cords are involved and other than for voice change the pharynx and esophagus are not involved and swallowing is fine. Extrinsic Ca involves the box itself and depending on the site and size of tumor it can impinge on the swallowing mechanism.
