Surface cord: The bump you feel could be a clot within a superficial vessel. These may cause pain and some redness, but rarely are the source of emboli to other organs. As a marker of a potential clotting disorder, it might bear evaluation to be sure there is no risk of deep vessel clots or a systemic disease that is creating the susceptibility.
