A member asked:

If you can't make yourself have a panic attack them why would a therapist ask you to make yourself have one?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Ask your therapist: You should always feel free to discuss with your therapist anything that is happening in your therapy and that includes such questions. Sometimes in therapy for panic disorders it can be helpful if the patient and therapist understand what exactly (thoughts and images ) might bring about the panic symptoms. That might be why this issue came up. But you should ask.
