Yes: You most likely fractured one or more ribs. An x ray may be helpful and you will need strong medication for pain. See your physician.

Hard to heal: If it is truly just your ribs hurt then injuries to the intercostal muscles can be tricky to treat/ heal. Sometimes they do heal on their own, but may take a long time. Pain can be managed with Ibuprofen 400 or 600 mg, two or three times daily, with food and lots of water. If it does not improve in 2-3 weeks, see a MD or X-rays may be necessary.

Pain when breathing: It's a good idea to get checked out by your physician, just in case there is something worse than bruising causing your discomfort. At the minimum, the doctor could help you with pain control and see if a chest xray is necessary.
