Yes: Sounds like at the very least the doctor thought you had an infection....Strep being a specific type of infection, commonly affects the respiratory tract but can cause infection other areas of body. If you're having severe back pain possible other sources of infection should be looked into.....An example of such would be a urinary tract infection. Other causes of back pain should be investigated.
