Becomephysically fit: a pound of fat takes up more than 3 times the volume of a pound of lean muscle. So the fastest way to gain weight in a healthy manner is to become physically fit--and eating a healthy diet. You do not have to suffer with an appropriate fitness program--muscle aches and pains are not necessary. Just 11 minutes a day 5 days a week with no discomfort will do the trick.

Some people are: naturally thin (ectomorphs). Changing your body type takes a lot of commitment. The healthiest way to "gain weight" is to eat a diet of balanced proteins and complex carbs (not junk food), with daily aerobic and anaerobic exercise. If your BMI is very low, you may have a nutrition issue that needs evaluation by an adolescent expert. Consider a HealthTap consultation for additional guidance.
