Surgery anxiety: is certainly understandable. See a mental health professional prior to surgery to prepare. Systematic desensitization or clinical hypnosis can be very helpful. In the hospital you might consider speaking w/someone from the pastoral care department if you have a spiritual or faith-based aspect to your world view. Peace and good health.

Multiple resources: Start by talking to your cardiologist and surgeon and making them aware of your feelings. They may have patients you can talk to who have already been through the procedure. Also they may already have a psychiatrist or psychologist they work with because you are not alone in your anxiety and because depression is a common post op problem,usually temporary
