Recovery : Recovery after cardiovascular surgery depends on the type of surgery, the circumstances of the surgery (i.e. Emergency vs. Elective), whether there were any complications, and the condition of the patient going into surgery. If your friend was relatively healthy before the surgery, well nourished, and had elective as opposed to emergency surgery, then i suspect he will recover well and be close to normal within a month. If on the other hand, he has other medical conditions, is frail, required emergency surgery or had complications surrounding surgery, then it is possible that his recovery will take several weeks if not months. His surgeon will place restrictions on his activity after surgery, and those restrictions can be re-evaluated at subsequent medical appointments.

Uncertain: Is the aneurysm in heart or aorta as these are two different entities recovery from resection of heart aneurysm depends on function and blood supply of remaining heart.
