Nerve irritation: The cold air may be causing irritation of the nerves across the ear drum. I have had this sometimes when outside when brisk cold wind hits side of my head. If you have to go out/into a cold environment cover your ears with a scarf. Have a good ear exam to make sure your eardrum anatomy is ok if this becomes a more serious nagging problem. http://www.nhs.uk/Conditions/Tinnitus/Pages/Introduction.aspx
