A member asked:

What happens when minimal lung collaspe is shown in an xray of the chest is it treated or can it get worse ? i had a xray 3/10/13

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Collapse implies: One of two things. 1. Pneumothorax, where air escapes the lung, or 2. A lobe seems to "close up" from a blocked bronchus. The former can be 'watched' and the lung commonly re-expands. The latter is of concern from aspirating something like a peanut, to a benign or malignant tumor needing further definition.
