See the : Podiatrist good idea. They can be related. Gangling cysts often arise from tendon or joints. On the too of the foot near the first met cuneiform joint sometimes there is spurring of bone, this can pinch a nerve as well as allow ganglionic cyst to develop.

Could be, maybe.: Ganglion cysts can come and go and never cause the problems you are having. The amount and location of the swelling as well as the extent of the joint pain need to be explored before a link can be made. Is the entire foot affected and is the joint pain limited to a single or multiple joints. Where does the pain radiate to. It would be best to be evaluated by a specialist.
