No: I am a PCP that treats alot of psych issues, as is the case in primary care nowadays. I do not, nor have I seen patients who are managed by a psychiatrist, commonly take above the recommended max dose of 20 mg for Lexapro (escitalopram).

Its OK as long as: you and your MD are on the same page. Here's a pretty good lay reference on Lexapro, (escitalopram) keeping in mind it is not peer reviewed. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Escitalopram

Lexapro (escitalopram) Dosage: I understand your concern. Lexapro (escitalopram) is used to treat Depression and Anxiety. Diagnosis of Anxiety or Depression needs to be made to consider Lexapro (escitalopram). Severity of symptoms, and impairment of functioning need to be considered for increasing from Lexapro (escitalopram) 20mg/day to 25mg/day. It is safe to take 25mg/day Continue Follow up with Psychiatrist for Benefits and side effects
