Eval by Ortho Surg: A thorough evaluation by an orthopaedic surgeon or specific Foot & Ankle subspecialist will help determine whether or not you need to proceed with ankle stabilization surgery. Chronic recurrent ankle sprains despite adequate rehabilitation and non-operative therapy is an indication to proceed with surgery. Chronically recurrent sprains can cause damage to the cartilage which lines the actual joint

Ankle Doctor Soon.: It appears your ankle condition has moved into the realm of being chronic. This is known as chronic ankle instability. This condition is usually the result of multiple, undertreated, acute ankle sprain(s). The goal now is to strengthen the associated surrounding ankle structures thru targeted physical therapy. Ankle bracing should be considered, especially, while engaging in extreme activity.
