A member asked:

Can 1 take cymbalta (duloxetine) for pain and come off and it's changed the pain or do u have to stay on for life to keep pain at bay?

Unclear: It depends on your pain cause and it's treatment. If the cause of the pain is resolved, then the pain itself is probably not present and doesn't require Cymbalta (duloxetine). But some kinds of pain tend to persist and need ongoing treatment, like Cymbalta (duloxetine).

At any point: You can address with your doctor(s), consideration for stopping/tapering off of Cymbalta (duloxetine) to see where your pain sits. Depending on the cause of the pain and the person, some may be able to eventually come off of Cymbalta (duloxetine), while others may need it lifelong.
