My mom is 72 years old. three years ago, she was diagnosed with dementia. she takes zoloft, cymbalta, (duloxetine) a cholesterol pill, nasonex, and aspirin. does overmedication lead to parkinsonism symptoms?

Depends on drug: Certain drugs, which are Dopamine antagonists (typically drugs for psychosis, mood disorders, ocd, and some antihypertensives) can cause parkinson-like symptoms. People with dementia may be more sensitive to these drug effects. Several types of dementia, including lewy-body disease may manifest pd symptoms. Pd itself is associated with dementia in about 1/3rd of cases, if they live long enough.

Mom with parkinson: Agree with dr. Smith but wonder why she is on two antidepressants. Discuss with her doctor for clarification.

No: Over medication does not lead to parkinsonian symptoms, at least for the drugs you mentioned in your question. Parkinsonian symptoms, part of extrapyramidal symptoms (eps)are caused from side-effects to antipsychotic medications which block Dopamine in the brain. It is possible your mother has side effects and non-parkinsonian tremors. You should discuss your concerns with her doctor.
