See doctor: Insomnia is a sleep disorder which can have many different causes from stress to medical illness. Write down all meds (prescribed/OTC/supplements), alcohol/drug/tobacco/caffeine use and current stresses to review with your pcp. Ambien (zolpidem): Ambien (zolpidem) has been around long enough they don't usually have to give samples to doctors, but you can check with your provider. But Cognitive Behavioral Treatment for Insomnia is a longer term solution. Most insomnia has behavior/environment foundation.
