Is there any evidence that long term use of ambien (zolpidem) for sleep is detrimental to mental or physical health?

Ambien (zolpidem) vs melatonin: ambien (zolpidem) does not facilitate a normal sleep cycle. It is helpful for a short period but after that it is better to use natural remedies like melatonin, chamomile tea or sour cherry juice to return to the development of a full sleep cycle.
