Endocrine Disorder: Spontaneous growth spurts in adults is abnormal. Normal human growth ceases by the time we reach 18-20 yo, when the growth plate in our long bones close. Growth is hormonally regulated via pituitary-mediated secretion of growth hormone, GH. Excess GH is concerning for an endocrine disorder, such as a pituitary tumor. Please see your doctor for a full evaluation and referral to an Endocrinologist.
