Panic: Panic attacks can produce chest pain and a sense of suffocation. It is true that these are false signals--in a state of panic the blood actually holds onto oxygen molecules, you have too much O2 in your blood and it can't be released to the brain. Some will breathe into paper bag to rebreathe back in your own exhaled CO2, and breathing slows. But also try deep breathing, and maybe a physical exam.
