Time to wean off: It would be a good idea to see a physician, even at an urgent care center and be prepared to be treated with a longer acting benzodiazepine like Klonopin that doesn't have such a bad problem with withdrawal. I personally refuse to initiate anyone on Xanax (alprazolam). It is highly addicting, too short-acting, and frankly, dangerous.

Xanax (alprazolam) withdrawal: I recommend going to your local emergency room or urgent care clinic. They will usually only prescribe a few pills to get you through to a doctor's appointment where you can get a better assessment. I strongly recommend against trying to stop cold turkey and a good provider can help recommend both expert anxiety disorder therapist and a very reasonable and safe, slow taper plan W/O withdrawal
