A member asked:

How much fluid intake does the average 3 year old need per day?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Fluid intake : A 3 year old should be taking in 40-50 ounces of fluid daily. The vast majority of this should be as water. About 12-16 ounces should be as milk. Needs go up with exercise, hot weather or increased losses such as when child has diarrhea. Try to stay away from soda, sugary fluids such as kool-aid or juices, and energy drinks in that age group are absolute NO.
