A member asked:

My 6 year old son still wets the bed and it is every single night. we limit his fluid intake but he is such a deep sleeper that he just doesnt wake up. what type of doctor should we be looking at in terms of assessments on how to help this?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Pediatrician: This is not an unusual issue. It is often seen in families where one or both parents had the problem. Once the doc rules out an active urinary problem focus is on bladder rehab. Limiting fluids is rarely helpful as these kids make the same amount of pee every hour based on daily intake. Urinary alarm systems can help or training to hold the pee helps the kid increase their bladder size.
