Stage varies with: TYPE For "Small Cell" tumors uses "Limited" and "Exxtensive" your grandpa would be the latter Non -Small Cell tumors there are the classic 4 stages and Grandpa would be Stage 4 There is treatment for both Good Luck to him and Hope this helps you Dr Z

Stage 4: Lung cancer that has spread to bone is very serious. At this stage one utilizes therapy for palliation. If there is bone pain, localized RT can be utilized. If tolerated various combinations of chemo may be employed to prolong survival. Occassionally newer therapies have been employed using checkpoint inhibitors. Im sure he is or will be placed on an optimum therpeutic regimen.
