Muscle breakdown: High CPK levels suggest high levels of muscle turnover, either from intensive exercise or generalized muscle breakdown. CPK is also broken down into something else called ck-mb; if this is elevated alone with normal cpk, it may suggest a heart attack with appropriate symptoms.
