Baby: 8 month olds can have solid foods. Full info on how to introduce solids is too long for a Heathtap response. Here is info from the AAP https://www.healthychildren.org/English/ages-stages/baby/feeding-nutrition/Pages/Switching-To-Solid-Foods.aspx --- you should not introduce whole milk yet. You should have a 9month check up soon with your pediatrician. Make sure to go over these ?'s with them.

Feeding: Solids absolutely. Typically Stage 1 or 2 if your child has less than 4 teeth. Stage 3 or soft table food for 4 teeth plus. Introduce one food at a time in the beginning every 3 or 4 days. Primary milk source should be breast milk or formula until the first birthday. I'm ok with a little yogurt or cheese but wait till the first birthday for milk.
