Glasses: If your prescirption has changes it is good to get new glasses so you can see better. If your prescription has not changed it is not necessary to get new glasses unless you desire to do so. The only thing it is bad for is your wallet!

Not bad: It does not mean that your eyes are bad if you need glasses every year. It means your prescription has changed. It is unnecessary to get new glasses even though the prescription has changed a little or a lot. It all boils down to clarity, your satisfaction and ability to function (pass your drivers vision exam). You typically will not harm the eyes by not getting new ones. Unless a child.
