Reading glasses: Why does he wear reading glasses? Were they prescribed for him? Does he need them for near vision? Perhaps his eyes are 20/20 for far vision but not for near vision. Ask his eye doc about the situation.

Should be a reason: Children have a tremendous focusing ability, but sometimes there is a problem where focusing to read can cause the eyes to turn in more than necessary. Reading glasses can help this. There should be a specific reason that the doctor recommended using reading glasses based on the eye examination.

No: It will not harm his eyes. Over-the-counter reading glasses are good magnifiers and make it easier to see close objects, . They can be useful to anyone, even children, for this purpose. If your child wears them alot, it is possible they need glasses and an eye exam is advised.
