See a physician: You are describing an infection, regardless of what the dentist says. He may be correct that you have no dental abscess, or maybe there wasn't an infection when he saw you, but blood and pus means infection. You need medical evaluation and possibly drainage and/or oral antibiotics. Don't wait. You should be seen soon because these infections can progress rapidly!

See your dentist: I am so sorry for your pain! However, you can have an dental or gum abscess that doesn't show up in an x-ray. The only person who can treat a dental abscess is a dentist. Treatment may involve typical dental procedures, drainage and in some occasional surgery. Do not delay and avoid future complications.

Abscess: An abscess can be seen both clinically and possibly radiographically. Two ounces of blood and purulent exudate should be easily seen by your dentist. See an oral surgeon for guidance if your dentist cannot find the source of your infection.
