Need more info: Sounds like last year was a very tough year. Did you get any psychiatric or psychological help? Who evaluated you? Were you hospitalized? Were you put on any medications? If so, which ones?. What was their effect on you and how long did it take? How long ago did your depressive thoughts, self-hatred, and the voices fade? Do you feel spacey and not very sharp now? Please see a therapist ASAP.

Good question: Glad you're no longer hurting yourself, hearing voices, self-hating and suicidal. Can't say what's going on without information about when you had these episodes: your age, medical and psychiatric history including any treatment, family history, stresses and details of your situation when these symptoms began. Hope you continue to feel better.

Psychiatrist: You were having concerning symptoms of depression and even psychotic ideation as well as suicidal thoughts. Happily these have resolved without specific therapy, but I still recommend an evaluation by a psychiatrist to review your current status and guide you on any follow-up which may be advisable.

There are a number: of possibilities. You MAY have a mental disorder. Please see a psychiatrist. Medication can be helpful in such cases. A thorough physical exam is needed also for a complete picture. Peace and good health. Life is fragile. Be good to yourself and treat yourself kindly.

"Nothing?": Your suggesting your experience of absent emotions -- especially positive ones -- sounds like a reduced but continued or restarted version of your prior depressed state. Whatever your past experience, it is likely that your depression is highly treatable, and you shouldn't have to endure it. I recommend you consult with a psychiatrist.

All good answers: All of the Docs here have given good answers - especially important might be Dr Smith's. If it's true that your emotional level is zero - nothing - that's a possible concern especially w/ the prior symptom hx. Do have a good psych eval - Clinical Psychologists or Psychiatrists can do this. It is good that you can rest a bit from the intensely negative pain.

Don't know but...: Depression is a recurrent illness in many cases and waxes & wanes even without treatment--probably good to see a psychiatrist to evaluate & prevent future problems

Therapy?: Have you yet tried any form of psychotherapy? Typically, the optimal combination of things to treat emotional issues such as symptoms you describe is medication (which, on your best day, is supposed to take the edge off symptoms) but the real gruntwork takes place in psychotherapist's consulting room.
