Meds for turbinates: Hello, yes, saline is a great medication to start with. After the saline use, the thickened mucus will reduce in essence cleaning your nose. Using a steroid nasal spray like Nasacort (triamcinolone) or Flonase after a saline spray will allow the steroid spray to better treat the mucus membranes since the thickened mucus layer covering the membranes has been washed away. Afrin is another option but only for 5 days
