Yes, it really does: All the body's energy production depends on normal metabolism. Genetic or environmental defects can severely interfere, some causing death. There are a host of cellular storage disease, in which the cells can not rid themselves of the byproducts of normal metabolism. There are metabolic brain and bone disorders, effects of diabetes, on and on. Why do you ask?
