No correlation: In normal homeostasis positively charged cation and negatively charged anions will be equal to maintain neutrality ' milieu internum ' ( internal environment ) in certain conditions like metabolic alkalosis apparent gap appears as charged proteins , phosphates etc not counted . Alkaline phosphate is an enzyme which has a different roll
