Blast cell: Follow up with hematologist. A percentage of individuals with MDS have high risk MDS with more than 5% blast cells in blood or may be developing blast crisis that develops into leukemia/ Please follow up with hematologist, may need bone marrow at this time http://www.hopkinsmedicine.org/kimmel_cancer_center/types_cancer/myelodysplastic_syndrome.html

Premature cell: A blast is a developing white blood cell and matures into a functional cell. It sounds like there where minimal blast which is probably a good sign considering his disease. However, this should ultimately discussed with his oncologist.
