Normal result no inflammation endoscopy with no further follow up why does clinician suggest take ppi twice a day instead of once if all is ok?

NERD: Nonerosive reflux disease, has the same symptoms as regular reflux, but no signs at endoscopy. Increasing your PPI to twice a day is the next step in getting the reflux under control. Most of the time this step will work. If it does not, then you should follow up with your gastroenterologist for further guidance. Keep following anti-reflux measures. Good luck.

Endoscopy results show minimal chronic gastritis with mild stromal fibrosis. Taking PPIs for 3 years for Barretts Esophagus. I have never seen stromal fibrosis on my pathology - what does this mean? Is it benign? Appt next week but worried?
