Possibly a sty: A picture is worth a 1000 words, as the cliche goes. Pain in the eyelid often arises from an acute blockage of one of the oil glands (zeis or meibum) creating exquisite tenderness, redness & swelling. Sometimes you can see a pustule on the eyelid margin. Moderately hot compresses for 10', 2-3 times/day followed by gentle massage may help to decompress the sty. I hope this helps. If no help, see md
