Pelvic infection: Usually, pelvic inflammatory disease puts people at risk for ectopic pregnancy, even it the initial infection was silent and unnoticed. Then having had one ectopic pregnancy you are at risk for another one and so on. Post surgical or post methotrexate (drug used to treat ectopic pregnancy in some situations) scarring can further increase the risk or recurrent ectopic pregnancy
