Orthodontics: Most people during orthodontic treatment get bands around their molars that act as anchorage too be the other teeth. Some people get them placed early and some don't. There are a few reasons for this, maybe they are young and not all permanent teeth are in, etc. ask your orthodontist, each orthodontist will do things slightly differently

Not uncommon: Some orthodontists (old school) who still use molar bands consider that putting them on their patients before the braces, allows some adjusting to these bands to take place. This used to be quite a common practice. Take care.

Because: Because no 2 malocclusions are identical. Treatment (including choice of corrective appliance) is based on the patient's needs. For comprehensive evaluation and best treatment options see a fully qualified Orthodontic Specialist.
