A member asked:

I was having a miscarriage and ultrasound showed that my left ovary is bigger than the normal size and it contains an oval shaped hypoechoic area measuring 1.9 x 2.2 x 1.5 cm with increased peripheral vascularity meaning what?

Likely a normal finding: What you are describing most likely represents a normal corpus luteum cyst, which is what's left after an egg ovulated from an ovary. It will often persist for a few weeks even after a miscarriage.

Corpus Luteum: Every pregnancy is associated with an ovary that has a "oval shaped hypoechoic area." It's the corpus luteum and it secretes hormones that support your pregnancy. When you have a miscarriage and get an US, it is usually found and will be absorbed after the pregnancy passes. It will go away, nothing to worry about, especially at that size. I'm sorry for your loss, but your body will heal.
