Unknown: I don't think we really know the answer to this excellent question but my impression is that, if you're using all the calories you eat, the fat content is not harmful. I base this on lipid profile results of Dr. Adkins (of the Adkins' diet) who eat a low carb, high fat diet, lose weight, and have no demonstrable harm. Some fats (monounsaturated) in moderation, appear to actually be beneficial.
