A member asked:

I was prescribed spironolactone for pcos i was wondering how long it would take for the cyst to go away?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Not what it is for: Spironolacton is an anti-androgen. It is used in PCOS to counteract some of the androgenic (male hormonal) effects of PCOS like hirsuitism (facial hair). It does not get rid of the cysts in the ovaries in patients with PCOS. We do not have a treatment that can do that at this time
