I took clonazepam 1mg yesterday and i have a bottle of 9 month old ativan (lorazepam) which is .5mg. is it okay for me to take some of the ativan (lorazepam)? i ran out of clonazepam and i currently don't have a primary.

Yes: Yes it is ok to take Ativan (lorazepam), (lorazepam) but only if you are having symptoms severe enough to warrant the use of Ativan (lorazepam). Ativan (lorazepam) is a medication that can be used for extreme agitation, anxiety, panic attacks or insomnia. Side effects would include sedation, so don't take more than directed. Your body can become dependent on this medication so please establish a primary care doctor and discuss its use.

Not ok.: The relative dosages may be equivalent for you or not, and the effectiveness may be equivalent or not. But there medico-legal problems. The Ativan (lorazepam) is not now prescribed for you, now, so you are self-medicating with a controlled drug. It is unlikely that you will be put in jail for this, but it contributes to a picture that you may not be fully willing to work a doctor with a controlled drug.
