Why are so many opposed to the current vaccines?

Falsified study...: The controversy involving vaccines can be traced to a large fraudulent study that "showed" a link between vaccines and autism. The doctor who published this faked the data. The entire medical community has repeatedly showed that this is false, but many have clung to this false connection. Autism is a very difficult condition, and people want to be able to blame (and thus avoid) something.
