A member asked:

I had a parathyroidectomy recently. i've been gaining weight over the course of 2 years out of nowhere. developed chronic constipation. related?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Hypercalcemia: can cause bone pain, gastroduodenal ulcers, kidney stones, and depression, but I am not aware of any direct causation of weight gain. But it might be related to depression. Now that your calcium metabolism is corrected with parathyroidectomy, these symptoms should improve.
