A member asked:

How effective is venlafaxine (effexor) for treating obsessive compulsive disorder (ocd)?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Useful: Studies show SSRI's such as Celexa (citalopram) and Zoloft (sertraline) are effective with 70% of OCD patients. Venlafaxine (a SNRI) has been found to help in some cases of nonresponse to SSRIs. When possible, a combination of medication and effective psychological treatment is desirable. However, pharmacological treatment is often more accessible and is a cost efficient approach.
