Depends: Every situation is different so treatment must be tailored to you specifically. Tell your doctor you want to see how you do without meds. Discuss pros/cons and if this is the right time to stop meds. You'll need doctor to oversee tapering/stopping. If OCD symptoms return, you can decide what's best. Stay connected with your doctor. No.: Drugs are not necessary. You can endure your OCD symptoms and probably get through life. But if you want to fully treat your symptoms, then medication is probably a necessary part of the package.
